MSC announced it will launch a brand-new independent direct flight service from South Africa to the United States in October 2025. This upgrade marks MSC's continued role as the leading shipping company providing direct services between South Africa and the U.S. East Coast, further strengthening its commitment to the African market.
The new route will deploy eight vessels (including four new vessels) to ensure the continuous and stable weekly service. During the citrus season, the route will also increase calls at the Port of Philadelphia.
The complete port call sequence is:
Port Elizabeth - Durban - Cape Town - New York - Baltimore - Norfolk - Charleston - Freeport - Port Elizabeth
This service upgrade will ensure route continuity and provide more reliable and efficient shipping solutions for trade between South Africa and the United States.
