MSC upgrades the IROKO route, strengthening Asia-Africa trade links through an independent operation model

2025-12-24

Mediterranean Shipping (MSC) announced a significant upgrade to its IROKO route service, adding a direct stop at Cape Town, thereby establishing a closer shipping link between Asia, South Africa, and West Africa.

This upgraded route mainly serves retail, solar panels, and various other consumer goods industries. Thanks to its independent operating model, this service holds a unique advantage in the market and also reflects MSC's ongoing commitment to promoting connectivity between Africa and key trade partners such as China.

The first vessel to implement the new route plan is FN604A, expected to arrive at Ningbo Port on January 23, 2026. The complete order of new route calls is as follows:

Ningbo – Nansha – Singapore – Cape Town – Cape Noire – Cotonou – Apapa – Tinkan/Lagos – Onei – Lobito – Cape Town – Singapore – Xiamen – Ningbo
